Moksha JanUtsav

Moksha JanUtsav

After the completion of our premier project, Moksha Foundation’s next endeavour was to help people in areas that require immediate attention. Following the pillars Moksha stands on, we abridged the gaps through the Moksha JanUtsav, a 20 week program that ran every alternate Sunday from the 16th of June 2013.

A camp was set up at a different location each week. We targeted LIG residencies like Inderpuri, Pandav Nagar and other slum areas.

The camps had three different aspects:
a)A medical camp, which ran tests and general health check ups for people. Our doctors conducted Bone Density, Eye check ups, Blood Pressure tests, the results of which were given to the attendees on the spot. In case the patient wished to buy medicines or spectacles based on the results of the test, they were referred to our associate partners who provided them the same at marginal costs. Apart from that, we kept a stock of multivitamin capsules, calcium tablets, painkillers and some other generic medicines for distribution.
b)A legal camp, where our lawyers provided consultation free of cost. We address multiple and diverse domestic legal issues and other cases. If the issue requires further attention, they were provided appointments for follow up. Documents like wills and rent agreements were also drafted and stamped through our camp.
c)A general assistance booth, where our volunteers helped the residents make their BPL, EWS or UID cards. Detailed information about the need, use and benefits of these cards was also highlighted.

The biggest Jan Utsav camp at Naraina Village, with a footfall of over 1400 people. The camp included providing free aid to EWS residents in terms of Medical aid, Eye Check Up, Aadhaar Card & Voter ID card solutions and legal consultation – all for free!
